Obtaining your e-Visa via the immigration website
Whatever the reason for your stay, you will necessarily need to apply for an e-Visa on the Australian immigration website to enter Australia. So, if you are going to the country for an internship, you can choose the "Occupational Trainee Visa" (OTV) or the "Working Holiday Visa" (WHV).
How do I obtain the OTV?
The OTV is a visa specifically for internships. It was created for foreign students and professionals wishing to do an internship in a company or government agency in Australia.
To obtain this type of e-Visa, you first need to find a sponsoring company. It is this company that will make the request for an appointment, i.e. it will have to complete a document in order to be able to welcome you.
Once this stage has been completed, you can send in your visa application. You will need to complete form 147 and send it to Australia to " the Adelaide occupational trainee processing centre "The application must be accompanied by all the required documents (list available on the Australian Embassy website). The procedure takes around 2 months.
How do I obtain a WHV (subclass 462)?
The WHV is the most practical visa. It allows you to combine work with a holiday. However, there are some drawbacks, the Australian Holiday Work Permit is valid for a maximum of 1 year and is non-renewable.
To apply, certain conditions must be met. You must be aged between 18 and 30, be in good health, live outside Australia and have a good level of English. With regard to the latter, an intermediate level (at least) is required. In addition, the work placement must enable you to acquire skills, improve your knowledge or qualify for a diploma. You also need to have a bank account, with nearly 3.500,00 € for the first few months, plus a return ticket.
You can apply for a visa by post or online. To apply by post, you need to download and complete form 1150, then follow the procedure indicated. If your application is successful, you will receive a letter or e-mail, and from that moment on you will have 12 months to travel to Australia.
Obtaining your e-Visa through an agency
To ensure that the procedure for obtaining an e-Visa is efficient, it is often advisable to use the services of an agency or organisation that will help you through the process.
It can also offer you the eVisitor, free of charge (excluding agency fees) for stays of less than 3 months. It takes around 2 days to obtain a visa. Which is quite quick. You will need a valid passport. In addition, you must not have a current Australian visa, and your application must be made when you are outside the country.
