How do I fill in the eVisitor for Australia?

Australia is a popular destination for travellers from all over the world. Whether you want to go on holiday, visit friends or relatives, or study, you need a visa before you can enter Australia. There are several options available, including the electronic eVisitor form (subclass 651), which allows you to travel to Australia for a short period.

What is the eVisitor?

The eVisitor is an electronic visa for nationals of certain European countries, including France, who wish to visit Australia for a period of up to 3 months. This visa is generally used for tourist stays, business trips or family visits.

Eligibility conditions

To be eligible for eVisitor, you must :

  • Be a national of a member country of the European Union or the Schengen Area (+ United Kingdom)
  • A passport valid for the duration of your stay
  • No serious criminal record
  • Do not pose a risk to public health or Australian national security
  • Do not intend to work or study in Australia for more than three months

How do I fill in the eVisitor electronic form?

To complete the eVisitor electronic form, follow these steps:

1. Create an account on the official Australian immigration website

You must first create an account on the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) website. Once registered, you will be able to access the online visa application platform.

Going through a visa agency is possible and even advisable to avoid common mistakes. 

2. Choose the type of visa

In the "Apply for a visa" section, select "Visitor" then "Visitor". eVisitor (subclass 651)" .

3. Fill in the visa application form

The eVisitor visa application form has several sections, in which you must provide information on :

  • Your identity (surname, first name, date and place of birth, gender)
  • Your nationality and details of your passport
  • Your contact details (address, telephone number, e-mail address)
  • The reasons for your stay in Australia (tourism, business, family visits)
  • Your work situation and financial
  • Your state of health and your medical history
  • Your criminal recordif applicable

All this information must be accurate and match the information on your passport. In the event of an error or false declaration, your application may be refused.

4. Confirm and submit your request

Once you have completed the form, carefully check all the information you have entered before submitting your application. Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt by e-mail, containing a reference number which you can use to track the status of your application online.

Follow-up of your request and receipt of the eVisitor

Once you have submitted your eVisitor application, you can track its progress on the Australian DHA website using your reference number. In most cases, eVisitor applications are processed quickly and you will receive a response within 48 hours. If your application is successful, you will receive an e-mail containing your eVisa.

What to do if you are refused?

If your eVisitor application is refused, don't be discouraged: there are other types of visa for which you may be eligible, such as the "ETA" (Electronic Travel Authority) visa or the "Visitor" visa (subclass 600). Check with the Australian embassy or consulate in your country to find out about the different options available and choose the one that best suits your situation.
